Sentiment toward the artificial intelligence trade partially recovered as Anthropic, the company behind Claude, filed for an IPO. All major U.S. indices ended the day in positive territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average posted a gain of 146 points to 52,361. The Nasdaq rose 0.82% to 26,169. The S&P 500 ended the day 0.7% higher at 7,677. All major sectors except communication services and consumer staples posted gains, led by technology and industrials. Meanwhile, in South America, the Brazilian stock market crashed after incumbent President Lula won the election, shattering market expectations for lower interest rates and market-friendly policies. The bond market was largely unchanged. The 5-year Treasury yield rose 2 basis points to 4.82%, remaining relatively stable compared with prior days. The 10-year Treasury yield remained unchanged at 4.99%. With no major economic data releases today, let us take a closer look at Anthropic. The company is expected to be valued at between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion, and its shares are expected to trade under the ticker symbol ANT. The IPO could potentially raise $100 billion, which could then be used to finance part of the company's $600 billion in disclosed computing and infrastructure agreements extending over the next decade. One of the most unusual features of the IPO is that public shareholders will have limited influence over major corporate decisions, as the company's founders will collectively control 50.1% of shareholder voting power.
